For those that want to feel the rugged outdoor of real Crete. A medium scale hike with the reward of a jump-in swim in the pristine turquoise Cretan Sea waters. A full day excursion of exercise, swimming, local farming snacks and a lesson in 1000 yr. old history and photography of monasteries with wine and olive oil tasting in cellars and caves...
We start at 260 meters high and walk down a path that leads us to an abandoned monastery, very much intact with an unbelievable bridge to cross over the gorge. We walk thru the gorge that leads us to the sea, where we meet a swimming tiny cove, away from all the tourist hoopla, jump in, swim and enjoy crystal clear waters.
We walk back up, same path, half of the uphill walk is a very good exercise, we stop at the historical cave of the “frozen bear’, eat a Spartan snack, fresh tomato, cukes, olives , goat cheese, kirtsinia, and of course more water.
We finish off the walk, back in the car, short drive at a 600 yr. old monastery, to take photos, step down into the cellar for wine and olive oil tasting, products made by the monastery and browse in their gift shop for all these items to buy, if you so desire.
Final stop at the best cafe in Chania for freddo espesso cappuccino coffee and the best panoramic view of the whole city of Chania to feast your eyes!
